How to Archive, Organize Applications in Blackberry

One of the biggest shortcomings of RIM's blackberry mobile lies in the fact that it requires a user to store installed or active third party applications. This is done in a small portion of the internal storage memory of the Blackberry device, also known as application memory.

Blackberry users, in other words, could only employ and download as many applications as would fit within the app memory of their devices. Currently, the largest amount of application memory available in the current device is around 256 MB.

Archiving Blackberry Applications

To archive any mobile applications downloaded from RIM's application world, simply open App world. After you sign in to the account, navigate the 'My world' section, where all the acquired applications get enlisted.

Remember - to archive blackberry applications, you need a micro memory card. Now, scroll over the application you wish to archive and click on the blackberry's menu key, situated directly to the left part of the track pad. Select the archive option from the pop up menu and wait before App world does its stuff. Based on application size, the process takes few minutes. Don't archive the software to your device's memory card.

Restart the blackberry, if prompted, and you are done. Once you have archived the World application, its icon comes on the blackberry with a leftward facing green arrow across the base.

Application Specific Folders

Archiving and installing blackberry applications is a good idea to create specific application folder to reduce clutter on the device's additional app folders or application screens. After you shift all the archived applications into a specific folder, you would be able to quickly install and locate them, whenever you require them in future. When you are done with the software, you can always re-archive it. You can also free up the application memory by repeating the above listed process.
